Relationships can be one of the most meaningful parts of our lives, but they can also become difficult at times. Couples counselling offers a supportive space where both partners can explore what is happening in the relationship, understand each other more clearly, and begin to reconnect.

Alison Westmacott is a qualified couples therapist who works with couples experiencing challenges, as well as those who simply want to care for their relationship before problems deepen.

A Thoughtful and Structured Approach
Alison's
Approach
Alison primarily works using Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT), alongside other therapeutic approaches and theories.
Imago therapy focuses on helping couples understand the deeper patterns that shape their relationship. Often, partners bring unconscious expectations and emotional needs into their relationship that may not yet be fully understood.
Through guided dialogue and exploration, couples are supported in bridging the emotional space between them, helping each partner feel heard, understood, and respected.
Couples counselling is not about blaming or deciding who is right or wrong. Instead, it focuses on helping partners understand both themselves and each other more deeply.
When Couples Seek Counselling?
Couples counselling can support partners at many different stages of their relationship.
Communication difficulties
When conversations turn into arguments, misunderstandings, or silence.
Emotional distance
When partners feel disconnected or struggle to express what they truly need.
Recurring patterns or conflicts
When the same difficulties keep appearing in the relationship.
Relationship “health check”
Counselling can also help couples strengthen their relationship even when things are generally going well.
